VIDEO: Hailee Steinfeld in Romeo and Juliet Trailer

So back when I was 17 years old, which I’m sad to say was a whopping 17 years ago, I created my very first fansite on Geocities, which kind of what you could call the 1990s version of GoDaddy, and it was all about the 1996 Romeo + Juliet.

It’s weird then, that Hailee Steinfeld (Petra), who I got to meet in New Orleans last May, is Juliet in a 2013 adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. I’m a total sucker for the story, even almost two decades later since it remains my favorite Shakespeare play, so I was pretty excited to see the first trailer, even if it’s in poor quality. This is actually the first footage of Hailee since her amazing debut in True Grit, which is kind of hard to believe. Hailee looks amazing as Juliet!

It’s actually kind of funny that Claire Danes was Juliet in 1996 and now Lord Capulet is being played by Damian Lewis. (You’ll only get that if you watch Homeland)

Hailee Steinfeld to be Named ‘Female Star of Tomorrow’ at CinemaCon

CinemaCon has previously announced that they would be bestowing awards upon Harrison Ford (Lifetime Achievement) and Asa Butterfield (Rising Star of 2013) and today it’s been announced that yet another Ender’s Game star will be receiving an award at the convention in April.

Hailee Steinfeld, who plays Petra Arkanian, will receive an award for 2013 Female Star of Tomorrow.

“Having already garnered an Oscar® nomination, not to mention international acclaim for her big screen debut in ‘True Grit,’ Hailee Steinfeld will continue to show audiences this coming year just how amazing a young actress she is with five new films set to hit theaters,” noted Managing Director Mitch Neuhauser. “Can you imagine working opposite Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin in your very first film and under the direction of Joel and Ethan Coen no less? We cannot think of a more exemplary young actress to be named this year’s ‘CinemaCon Female Star of Tomorrow.’”

The award will be given during the CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards on Thursday, April 18 at Caesar’s Palace.

With three cast members receiving awards, it’s starting to sound like the Lionsgate product presentation (to feature several unnamed special guests) may be a great panel for any Ender’s Game fans in attendance.

PHOTOS: Hailee Steinfeld Signs Books and Photos for ‘Ender’s Game’ Fans

Hailee Steinfeld was at an event with her brother Griffin tonight helping to support Our Military Kids and Ender’s Game fan Hannah asked her cousin Sarah to head there to meet her in the hopes of getting an autographed book and photo.

As you can see below, Hailee signed it with the name Petra under her own. No doubt one of many to come!

Here’s a bit from Sarah on getting to meet Hailee:

It was so great getting to meet Hailee! She was super awesome and incredibly nice! She took the time to talk with my daughter and sign everything I brought. Such a great experience!

Meet Hailee and Griffin Steinfeld in Phoenix, AZ

With Hollywood partying late into the night yesterday, some of the young cast of Ender’s Game headed out to parties including Aramis Knight and Khylin Rhambo. Hailee Steinfeld, who we just saw as Petra in the second still for Ender’s Game, attended Vanity Fair’s party with her brother Griffin.

Hailee Steinfeld on the Cover of Fashion Magazine

16 year-old actress Hailee Steinfeld (Petra) will appear on the March 2013 issue of Fashion Magazine.

No stranger to strong women, Hailee Steinfeld’s seven upcoming films have her playing roles that befit her star turn as True Grit’s Mattie Ross. In a film called Enders Game, she plays a self-described “a A-type genius” alongside a cast that includes Harrison Ford and Viola Davis.

Happy Birthday Hailee Steinfeld (Petra)

EnderWiggin.net wishes a very happy birthday to actress Hailee Steinfeld, who turns sixteen today! Steinfeld will play Petra Arkanian in Ender’s Game.

Ender fans just made aware of the movie’s production may be wondering why she looks so familiar. In 2011, Steinfeld was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Actress in a Supporting Role category for her performance as young Mattie Ross in True Grit.

Steinfeld has had a packed 2012, filming not only Ender’s Game, but three other films including a new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. All four films are due out in 2013.

Asa Butterfield Accepts Breakthrough Award at Young Hollywood Awards

Asa Butterfield, who is currently in Los Angeles finishing up Ender’s Game, attended the Young Hollywood Awards last night where he was awarded the Breakthrough Award of 2012. Congratulations!

Fellow Ender’s Game castmates Moises Arias and Hailee Steinfeld also attended the event.

Since Asa has so recently been filming, you can get a nice, high res look at how his hair will probably be in the movie (non-Instagram!)

‘Ender’s Game’ Officially Wraps Production in New Orleans

Many cast members began tweeting that they’d wrapped Ender’s Game earlier this week, but some cast and crew were still on set for a final day of filming today including Hailee Steinfeld, stunt coordinator Garrett Warren, and Mandy Safavi.

Hailee Steinfeld tweeted about her last day and wrap.

Garrett Warren posted the photo of his chair back with a caption of the movie officially wrapping today.

Removing my chair back! Enders game new Orleans is officially wrapped!!! Wheels up!

Congratulations to the cast and crew on finishing up today! All us fans can’t wait until we start seeing stills, posters, teasers, trailers, and clips in the torturous 508 days to come!

Bean, Dink, Alai, Petra Wrap ‘Ender’s Game’

Four key characters wrapped production on Ender’s Game this week including Hailee Steinfeld (Petra, wrapped last week), Aramis Knight (Bean), Suraj Partha (Alai), and Khy Rhambo (Dink). The cast attended a wrap party last week Saturday and today began tweeting about their filming coming to a conclusion.

Update: Conor Carroll (Bernard) wrapped today as well.

Asa Butterfield tweeted his goodbye to the three young men and Hailee Steinfeld sent a congratulatory tweet their way.

Production is winding down, but doesn’t appear to be over just yet, as actor Jimmy Pinchak (Peter Wiggin) is back in New Orleans for filming and Asa hasn’t tweeted that he’s wrapped on filming himself. Filming was originally scheduled to end on June 8.

Hailee Steinfeld in Negotiations for ‘Ender’s Game’ Movie for Petra Arkanian

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the young star of last year’s True Grit is in talks to join the cast of Ender’s Game.

Although she was nominated for an Academy Award, Steinfeld has yet to follow up her stunning performance with additional work, but this role would put things back in motion for her in February of next year.

Steinfeld is negotiating for the role of Petra Arkanian, Ender’s lone female soldier in Dragon Army. Ender first meets Petra when he arrives in the Battle School and the two children become friends, training together for years.

What do you think of her being Petra? There’s absolutely no doubt she can act and she’s only slightly older than Asa Butterfield, who looks younger than his 14 years, so their youthfulness matches up nicely with the books.
