So back when I was 17 years old, which I’m sad to say was a whopping 17 years ago, I created my very first fansite on Geocities, which kind of what you could call the 1990s version of GoDaddy, and it was all about the 1996 Romeo + Juliet.
It’s weird then, that Hailee Steinfeld (Petra), who I got to meet in New Orleans last May, is Juliet in a 2013 adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. I’m a total sucker for the story, even almost two decades later since it remains my favorite Shakespeare play, so I was pretty excited to see the first trailer, even if it’s in poor quality. This is actually the first footage of Hailee since her amazing debut in True Grit, which is kind of hard to believe. Hailee looks amazing as Juliet!
It’s actually kind of funny that Claire Danes was Juliet in 1996 and now Lord Capulet is being played by Damian Lewis. (You’ll only get that if you watch Homeland)
