Entertainment Tonight spoke with Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Viola Davis, and Hailee Steinfeld at the Ender’s Game press junket on Saturday. Although they talk a lot about the underlying themes of the film, the gem is definitely when Viola Davis continues her Harrison Ford fangirling and reveals that he’s got a really dirty mind and tells a lot of dirty jokes.

Hey guys,
it’s been two weeks, and while the cast have not been overly busy on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, we still have tons of news and pretty pictures to share with you.
Let’s start with Hailee Steinfeld, who has been by far the busiest of the young cast, having signed on to not one but two new projects in the last couple of weeks. First, she is going to play teen assasin Megan in Kyle Newman’s Barely Lethal alongsinde Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Alba. Second, she’s set to appear as Vince Vaughn’s daughter in his adaptation of Term Life, a graphic novel by A.J. Lieberman and Nick Thornborrow. Not to forget all those other projects she’s either currently working on, like Three Days to Kill and The Homesman, or recently finished shooting, like Loveship, Hateship and The Keeping Room. No wonder German GLAMOUR editor Wolfgang Hertel calls her “A Girl for All Occasions.”
Hailee’s latest project, the new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, just premiered in LA. Here she is on the red carpet with “Romeo” Douglas Booth and BFF Taylor Swift.
I like the dress. It proves again that Hailee Steinfeld is quite the fashionista. Which is probably why she made time to attend several events during New York Fashion Week, such as the Donna Karen 25th Birthday Bash, the Estee Lauder “Modern Muse” Fragrance Launch or the Calvin Klein Spring 2014 After-Party. I don’t know about you, but while I’m not sure about the Donna Karen one I’m partial to the Calvin Klein outfit.
Hailee herself has often admitted that fashion is hugely important for her. So too in the October issue of ASOS, the magazine published by the online fashion shop of the same name. Speaking of fashion magazines: Several pictures of Abigail Breslin appear in digital magazine ContentMode’s current issue #11, together with a video in which Abigail talks about August: Osage County, Ender’s Game, and her fashion philosophy. Check out the photos and the video HERE!
Since then, Abigail has been keeping busy. She did a number of interviews recently to promote her various new and upcoming movies. She talked to ShockTillYouDrop about Haunter and Zombieland, discussed the terrifying experience of being locked in a trunk in The Call with DIY, and chatted to ALLURE about this and that. And according to Comingsoon.net, she has just started working on her newest movie, zombie thriller Maggie with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
While it’s not exactly a new movie, Khylin Rhambo also had news to share. He recently booked a guest role in the cop show Ironside!
Conor Carroll, on the other hand, has been walking down memory lane, sharing THIS awesome little ad with the world. Looks like little Conor already had the bully role down pat. Otherwise he’s been keeping busy getting into boxing and Facebook. Check out his new account HERE!

Finally, let’s briefly talk about the older cast: Ben Kingsley has joined the cast of Learning to Drive. Harrison Ford will receive the Hollywood Career Award at the 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards. He’s also keeping up the Han Solo act by angering leading politicians. Viola Davis appears on the cover of the October issue of ESSENCE. You can see a video of the shoot HERE. Ender’s Game Cast Watch #8 – New Projects Edition
Recently, the names of several cast members have been showing up in entertainment news articles around the Nets, and not just in connection to Ender’s Game. I figure that’s reason enought to take a closer look at the cast’s current and upcoming projects.
Hailee Steinfeld seems to be by far the busiest of the younger cast. Her new movie Romeo & Juliet, starring Douglas Booth as Romeo, is coming out in October and Relativity Media has recently released not only a new trailer and the first movie poster but also several hi-res stills to promote the film. In addition to Romeo & Juliet and Ender’s Game, Hailee has nine movies coming up, six of which have already been shot. Hateship Loveship and Can A Song Save Your Life? are set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September. Release dates have yet to be set for The Homesman (a frontier drama starring Tommy Lee Jones) and The Keeping Room (with Sam Worthington, set during the American Civil War). The spy thriller Three Days to Kill is coming out in February 2014. Three more projects are currently in pre-production.
Abigail Breslin has a few movies coming out within the next few months as well. Her horror flick Haunter is set to be released in theaters and on Video on Demand in October, and the poster and trailer have just been released online.

In addition, Abigail is starring in the thrillers Final Girl and Wicked Blood, both set to be released this year, and playwright Tracy Letts’ family Drama August: Osage County (with Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Benedict Cumberbatch; out in December). As we told you a couple of weeks ago, Asa Butterfield is currently filming BBC co-financed dramedy X Plus Y. He is also rumored to play the lead in The White Circus, a fantasy movie reuniting him with Chloe Moretz set to be released in 2015. And personally, I wouldn’t be too upset if the casting directors of the new Artemis Fowl movie would consider casting Asa. Tumblr users have done that for years.
But let’s not forget the adult cast, since they have been keeping busy, too. Harrison Ford’s new movie Paranoia (with Liam Hemsworth and Gary Oldman) is coming out in a little over a month. Anchorman 2, in which he has a small role, is set to be released in January 2014. In addition, he is involved in three projects that are currently in pre-production: psychological thriller You Belong To Me (with Zach Efron), Sly Stallone’s The Expendables 3, and the long awaited Star Wars VII (directed by J.J. Abrams). He has also declared on several occasions that he would be open to Indiana Jones 5. While I’m excited for Star Wars, I’m not so sure about Indy 5 (Indy 4 was one of the worst movies I’ve ever not finished watching), and I’m positively dreading Expendables. I wonder if Harrison lost a bet or something.
True to current form, Sir Ben Kingsley has signed onto every project he could fit into his schedule. WWII drama Walking With the Enemy and middle ages set The Physician (based on Noah Gordon’s best-selling novel) are set to be released later this year. SciFi movie Our Robot Overlords is to premiere in 2014. One more project, currently untitled, is in post-production. Two are filming at the moment (thriller Eliza Graves and animated movie The Boxtrolls). Three more are in pre-production.
Viola Davis has a new movie coming out in September as well: crime thriller Prisoners, starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhall. Two more movies – Th Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby and Cyber – are currently filming/in post-production.
Finally, Nonso Anozie has been doing pretty well for himself. He has landed roles in the upcoming Jack Ryan movie, starring Chris Pine and Keira Knightley (out in December) and NBC’s Dracula TV series, starring Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as the seductive vampire and Nonso as his loyal servant Renfield.

Viola Davis to appear on Oprah’s Next Chapter
According to Vibe, Viola Davis, who will play Major Anderson in the upcoming Ender’s Game movie, is set to appear on next week’s Oprah’s Next Chapter. The show, which was launched in 2011 on the Oprah Winfrey Network, features Oprah travelling around the country meeting with and interviewing celebrities and other people of public interest. For next week’s installment, Oprah sits down to chat with not only Viola Davis, but also Alfre Woodard, Philicia Rashad, and Gabrielle Union about African American women in the entertainment industry.
The show will air on Sunday, June 23 at 9/8c. American viewers can check out a sneak peek on oprah.com and youtube.

Viola Davis Calls ‘Ender’s Game’ a “Moving Story”
Viola Davis, who is starring in the young adult film adaptation of Beautiful Creatures out this weekend, is doing the rounds with press and during an interview with Collider, mentioned again how Harrison Ford makes her starstruck. Davis previously mentioned in an interview that she kept wanting to tell Ford how much she loved him, but feared embarrassing herself.
DAVIS: I did Ender’s Game. People are really excited about that one. Harrison Ford. And I would stare at him all the time and my husband said, “You gotta stop doing that! You gotta just talk to people! I talk to people! You don’t talk to anybody!” And I said, “I know, but it’s Harrison Ford!” And he said, “I don’t care! Just talk to him!” But, I would just stare at him. He said, “How you doing, Viola? You know, I would have flown you out here with your daughter, when your daughter was sick. You could have just asked me.” And I thought, “I could have?!” And then, he’d tell really racy jokes, and I would think, “Harrison Ford is telling me a joke!” And then, I’d forget to laugh! He’s awesome!
Davis also mentions director Gavin Hood, who she says is tough and specific and directed one of her top three greatest foreign films of all time, Tsotsi.
What a moving story. And once again, it’s relevant. It’s about training these young kids to be soldiers and to kill, and what are the after effects of that? It’s wonderful.

Viola Davis on the ‘Ender’s Game’ Cast
In an exclusive video of an audio interview with Viola Davis (Major Anderson), the site Fangirlish talked with Viola Davis briefly about her thoughts on the Ender’s Game cast.
When asked how she feels about working with young actors, Davis said that she loves working with them. “I was out of touch. That’s why I like working with young people. They keep you in touch, they keep you relevant, almost. Which is what I love.”
She briefly mentions her thoughts on working with Harrison Ford and how much of a fan of his she is. “[…] I thought it was cool cause I was working with Harrison Ford. I love Harrison Ford. And every scene I wanted to tell him, “I love you,” but I couldn’t because I’d look like a geek once again.”
Davis is set to star in two young adult franchises this year with Beautiful Creatures and Ender’s Game.
“I love big franchise movies. The only thing that would be better is being in a movie that was like Avatar or Aliens where I got to beat the crap out of somebody and wear cute outfits.”
According to Fangirlish, she also commented on Asa Butterfield and Aramis Knight, though it’s not on the video.
She remarked how great the kids from Ender’s Game were, and how Aramis Knight and Asa Butterfield were such good boys.

Viola Davis: “I Did Not Read the Book”
In a recent interview with BlackFilm.com, Viola Davis talked about her most recent projects including the recently released film ‘Won’t Back Down’ and the young adult book adaptation ‘Beautiful Creatures’. She is later asked a bit about her role as Major Anderson and Davis mentions that she has not read ‘Ender’s Game’.“I did not read the book. […] And in Ender’s Game, in the book, Major Anderson is actually a male so by the time… I just felt like this is a different character and I didn’t feel like I could learn anything from reading the book as much as I can learn something from studying the psychology of people who have come back from war and experience post-traumatic stress disorder and I felt that was much more valuable for me.”

What do you think about her not having read the book? Major Anderson, while a very important player in Ender’s life at the Battle School, does most of his work “behind the scenes” of the novel and so really isn’t seen by Ender very much. Still, do you think she should have read for herself the original story?

Nonso Anozie Talks Getting the Part of Sergeant Dap
Nonso Anozie spoke recently with Ebony Magazine about his role as Sergeant Dap in Ender’s Game.Anozie joked about how he thought the on-set location in New Orleans, Louisiana was hot, but was apparently a breeze compared to Morocco, where he is currently filming Genesis to Revelations for the History Channel (he plays Samson).
When asked about what it was like to film with Viola Davis, he revealed that he has no scenes with Davis (Major Gwen Anderson) in the movie. “But I’d come to set on my off days to watch because I enjoy all facets of movie making.” said Anozie. “We’d talk offset.”
As for Harrison Ford, the actor says he was invited to fly to Los Angeles with Ford on his private plane. “He’s really down to earth and we got to know each other quite well.” He also mentions that he and Sir Ben Kingsley have been friends from working on another movie together in the past.
As for his role as Dap and how he got the part, Anozie says it was one of the most surprising parts about the film for him, “Originally, it wasn’t written for a Black man, Sergeant Dap is a white guy in the book. But the casting staff liked me so much that I got the part.”
“Ender’s Game was a great movie and I’m looking forward to the world seeing it.” We’re certainly looking forward to it as well!
Ender’s Game will be released in theaters November 1, 2013.
